Ameriprise Office
The Ameriprise office was an interesting site and construction project. To meet the town’s zoning and permit regulations the building had to be in the exact same footprint of the dilapidated structure we tore down at the start. To add the challenge the property is located between two streams just down stream of the Boone Mall. The entire site is within the flood way; in fact the construction site flooded multiple times during construction. In the end the financial planners and clients have a warm and dry view to watch the streams rise.
Boone Bike
In 2013 the owners of Boone Bike purchased the old Eckerd Drug building on Hwy 421 for the expansion of their store. The building had most recently been occupied by a real estate company in one half and Tuesday Morning in the other half. Our task was to gut and renovate the portion that was to become the new Boone Bike showroom. Load bearing walls were replaced with laminated beams to open up the space for a showroom.
Valle Crucis Community Park Welcome Center
The Welcome Center at the Valle Crucis Community Park was designed by and constructed by the students at Appalachian State University’s IDEX Lab. Headwaters operated as general contractor for the project. As summer arrived the framing was just beginning on the project, and the students in the IDEX Lab graduated or went off to summer break, Headwaters took a more active role in the daily work. Three of the ASU students remained as summer interns, joining up with Headwaters’ employees to finish the welcome center. Over the next three months Headwaters donated the time of its employees and worked along side the three remaining students to complete the project. Our philanthropic effort has provided the park and the community with a great resource.
Appalachian Sate University: Summit Hall and Student Union Addition
Headwaters was a subcontractor to Balfour Beatty Construction providing the “General Trades” for the construction of the Summit Hall Living Learning Center and the addition to the Plemmons Student Union. Headwaters was onsite from excavation through the final punch list items. Our work totaled thousands upon thousands of man hours taking care of general labor, carpentry work, punch list, and more.
